According to ESPN, Georgia linebacker and expected first-round NFL Draft choice Adam Anderson has been suspended while police investigate a rape allegation.

Anderson did not participate in numerous sessions this week, according to UGASports sources. This weekend, he is not scheduled to play.

With 32 total stops and a team-leading five sacks in eight games, the former five-star is Georgia’s fifth-leading tackler. He also has 15 quarterback pressures, which puts him second on the team.

Despite playing with a club over his right hand, he had a career-high seven tackles versus Florida.

Adam was second on the team in sacks last season with 6.5, including three in Georgia’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl victory over Cincinnati. During his time with the Bulldogs, Anderson appeared in 46 games.

Anderson, a Rome, Georgia high school senior, has not been arrested and has refuted the allegations through his counsel.

A 21-year-old woman told officers she went to a house in Athens, Georgia, between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police Department incident report.

The woman claimed she awoke while Anderson was rapping her after she had a few beers. She reported it to the police later that day.

On Saturday, Anderson was a part of Georgia’s 34-7 victory over Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

“The investigation is still underway,” said lieutenant Shaun Barnett of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. “In any case, no arrest or final determination has been made.”

According to Anderson’s attorney, Steve Sadow, the allegation is “unfounded and unsubstantiated,” and the lady has “apparently made conflicting claims.”
