He is a 1981 Seton Hall Communications and Media studies graduate who works at 77WABC Morning News with Frank Morano + Juliet Huddy and Bernie and Sid Show. He has been an anchor at iHeartMedia’s Total Traffic since 1979.

Additionally, Nolan calls football games on N.J. internet radio and runs the Maureen E. Nolan Foundation, a non-profit organization named after his mother, who died of cancer in 1982.

WABC: What Happened To Joe Nolan? Cancer And Health Update

Joe Nolan seems still alive as his last Facebook post came just two hours ago.

Nonetheless, people question his health. It began after he disclosed the diagnosis of prostate cancer and kidney cancer in 2019.

In it, Joe wrote about the doctors taking care of his illness and mentioned a team of experts from The Summit Medical Group, The Rutgers Cancer Institute, and RWJ/Barnabas Health for the treatment.

Likewise, he called the prognosis very good. Moreover, he revealed about having surgery to take care of kidney and radiation for the prostate in the months to come. Reportedly, medical experts accidentally discovered kidney cancer. Although he had no symptoms, he avoided a disaster because of a scan for prostate cancer.

Rutgers Cancer Institute’s Dr. Eric Singer surgically removed Joe’s kidney. Similarly, he underwent radiation to treat the prostate one.

Although the journalist mentioned the uncertainty of the situation, he expressed feeling good for the future. And at the end of his post, he asked his listeners to get a P.S.A. Test done and pray for him.

Apart from this health scare, Joe also suffered from a heart attack at his home in 2014. His treatment took place at Overlook Hospital. He had surgery for a 100% artery blockage.

He credits the Westfield police, Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, and the hospital for his survival. Reportedly, a policeman came to his rescue in about a minute and a half. Two minutes later, the rescue squad was there, then the paramedics. And he was out of the operating room by 62 minutes.

He currently resides with his wife, Marianne Fitzgerald. The couple were high school sweethearts but had their separate journeys after Holy Trinity High School. They both got married to other people, raised families, and divorced.

And after three-and-a-half-decade, they had a chance encounter in the Jolly Trolley. Then, Joe and Marianne got married.
