Wayne Perkey, for 30 years the “morning man” on WHAS radio in Louisville and a longtime host of the WHAS Crusade for Children, has died at age 84. His family confirmed his death Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Perkey had been recently hospitalized with COVID-19 and his condition had become critical, according to two of his five children, Dr. Rebecca Booth and Cecil Booth. Because Perkey had been vaccinated, received a booster shot, and had been cautious about exposure, the family was surprised when he recently contracted the virus.
