Virginia Patton Moss, Last Adult Cast Member Of ‘It’s A Wonderful Life,’ Dead At 97

Virginia Patton Moss, the last persevering through adult cast person from It’s a Wonderful Life, has passed on. She was 97.

Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Georgia, confirmed the death on Monday, writing in a tribute that she “passed tranquilly of typical causes” on Aug. 18.

Patton Moss was generally well known for her occupation as Ruth Dakin Bailey in Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life, the companion of Todd Karns’ Harry Bailey and sister in law of legend George Bailey, played by James Stewart. She is credited as Virginia Patton in the film.

Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey’s young lady, Zuzu, introduced an acknowledgment on Patton Moss on Facebook, captioning a grouping of new and old photos “We have another angel!”

Patton Moss shipped off her calling as a student at the University of Southern California, where she procured experience acting in plays and several films. In 2012, her significant other, Cruse W. Tell an examiner “Virginia was the super young woman that was contracted straight by Frank Capra plant life, that. Each and every individual in that film was progressed by another studio. Regardless, Ginny was not with the studio and Frank Capra truly marked her for that picture.”

Following the 1946 appearance of It’s a Wonderful Life, Patton Moss acted in four extra motion pictures. Her last screen recognize came in 1949 for The Lucky Stiff, highlighting Dorothy Lamour, Brian Donlevy and Claire Trevor. She married Cruse that very year, and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she raised their three youths and filled in as a docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.

Her commendation similarly communicates that she got an Honorary Doctor of Science confirmation from Cleary College in Ann Arbor and served on Boards of the American Institute of Archeology, the Washtenaw County Mental Health Services Agency, and Cleary College’s Board of Trustees. Virginia and Cruse remained married until Cruse’s passing in 2018.

“I wanted unequivocally definite thing I am. Ann Arbor, Michigan, a radiant mate, magnificent children, a good piece of the neighborhood,” said in 2012. She didn’t feel sorry about anything about leaving acting. “I couldn’t see me doing that for my life,” she added.
