Tito Santana is an American semi-retired professional wrestler. He has been a fan favorite throughout his entire career and is well known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation between 1979 and 1993.

Tito attended his college education at West Texas State University. There he became a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. he later played a tight end for the West Texas State Buffaloes. He was later on signed by the Kansas City Chiefs after he finished college. He was however cut during training camp.

Tito Santana Career

Tito was first taught how to wrestle by Yasuhiro Kojima and Bob Orton. he made his first debut in 1977 while working for Championship Wrestling from Florida. Later that year he joined Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW) until 1978. From there he teamed up with World Wrestling Federation where he defeated Mike Hall in 1979. He joined forces with Ivan Putski to defeat Johnny Valiant and Jerry Valiant for WWF Tag Team Championship in 1979.

Him and his partner were undefeatable and held the title for six months straight. However, they lost their title to the Wild Samoans in April 1980. He then after quit the promotions in 1981. He began wrestling in the American wrestling association (AWA) from 1980 to 1982. Thereafter he decided to0 turn back to WWF in 1982 where he made his television return on the May 14, 1983, episode of Championship wrestling from 1982 to early 1983.

He was also engaged in a lengthy feud with WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight champion the Magnificent Muraco. He finally won the on February 11, 1984, making him the first Mexican – American to win the title of Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion. He was later inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004 with an induction speech by his Wrestle Mania VIII opponent Shawn Michaels.

He was later inducted into the Spanish Hall of Fame of Pro Wrestling in September 2008. Tito later appeared in the Legends Roll-On in November 2010. He is currently a Spanish teacher and a basketball coach at Eisenhower Middle School in Roxbury Township in New Jersey. He has also begun teaching wrestling classes at the New Jersey-based Independent Wrestling Federation. at least he still wrestles a dozen matches per year. Tito’s autobiography was released in 2008.
