Was killer David Strickland Arrested? On June 22, 2012, Mollie Olgin, the 19-year-old woman, was murdered after she and her girlfriend were assaulted and shot.

Mollie Olgin and her girlfriend, Kristene Chapa, were sexually assaulted and shot in June 2012.

The incident took place in Violet Andrews ark in Portland, Texas, where the teenage couple got viciously attacked.

On that tragic night in the park, Mollie, 19, and Kristene,then-18, were both shot in the head with a large-caliber gun.

The next day, one of the birdwatchers discovered their blood-drenched bodies under a viewing deck and informed the authorities.

Unfortunately, Mollie did not survive the attack. Chapa survived that horrific night and was placed in the intensive care unit due to her severe brain injuries.

Despite the injuries, with the help of sign language, pen, and paper, Chapa describes the attacker for a police sketch.

This case got national attention as many believed the motive could have been a hate crime against the lesbian couple.

Mollie Olgin Murder Update: Was Killer David Strickland Arrested?

David Strickland was arrested for the murder of Mollie Origin and sexually assaulting Mollie and Kristene Chapa.

After two years of that tragic incident, David, then-29, was charged with capital murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, and aggravated sexual assault.

One day, Kristene’s father received a suspicious letter, where undisclosed information about the June 22 incident was mentioned.

The letter mentions a man from Layton, Utah, as the main culprit; later, the police found out the man had an alibi.

The investigation revealed that Laton’s man photo, in the letter sent to Chapa’s father, was taken by Strickland’s wife, Laura.

David had burglarized Layton’s man house a year before. When police searched his vehicle on the robbery charge, they discovered two guns, ammunition, a suppressor, gloves, and other items.

Further investigation found Strickland’s cell phone was near Chapa’s house when the letter was delivered.

On June 20, 2014, Strickland’s couple was arrested and held at San Patricio County Jail. 

David was also charged with capital murder, aggravated sexual assault, and aggravated assault.

Laura was charged with tampering with the evidence, but later the charges were dropped. On September 28, 2016, the San Patricio Country jury reached a verdict and sentenced David to prison.

Mollie Olgin parents are Mario Olgin and Maryel Oligin.
