After Mark graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with his Bachelor of Arts degree in radio and television, he worked as a news reporter and anchor at KWWL-TV in Iowa. From there, he worked at KSPR in Springfield, Missouri where he was the sports anchor until 1991. Mark’s career then led him to work at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles, California and doing ESPN assignments as well.

His work during that time earned him two Emmys and a Golden Mike Award. This was also the time he played the role of a security guard in the Nixon Movie (1995). Mark then began his work as a correspondent anchor at Entertainment Tonight in the same year. However, he announced his departure from the show in 2012.
