Jillian Slatas Died: All of A Sudden, Her Death Raises Concerns

Written by Daniel Santos — 0 Views

On November 12, 2017, Jillian Slatas, who was a very beloved soul of the community, passed away due to an overdose of heroin. At the time she passed away, she was just 26 years old; this age is too young to leave the world.

The news of her death was announced by her loving boyfriend, Anthony Varela. He was very dear to Jillian, and so was Jillian dear to Anthony.

From the day Jillian left this world, her boyfriend, in her memory, became a vocal person for awareness of mental health and, most importantly, how to prevent addiction to drugs as his girlfriend went through this pain.

Cause of her death?

According to the reports that were published after her death, they reported that Jillian, the pretty young lady, was facing and was going through mental health disorders and addictions for many years. She was taking heroin as she was on her addiction, and she wanted to escape from her mental health problems.
She was self-medicating herself on heroin, and this caused her death. He overdosed on heroin laced with fentanyl. Heroin is said to be a killing thing.
Her father stated that.

“She was going to cook me dinner that night,” he said. “Jillian did not want to die. Most addicts do not want to die.”

While talking about addiction, He stated that

“They’re not dirty if they’re using,” he said in an interview with The Times. “They’re human.”

“She was struggling,” Slatas said. “She asked me if I would take her to Peru to do an ayahuasca retreat. I said no. I said, You don’t give a drug addict drugs. That’s not how you deal with it. That’s what I was told. That’s how I was advised … I sided with the doctors, but my thinking has changed quite a bit.”

“The death rates are just soaring,” Slatas said.

The Details regarding Jillian Slatas’ funeral arrangements and her memorial service are not available.

But according to available information

On Sunday, July 28, the Slatas are hosting a fundraising dinner, auction, and concert at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs. The event will start with tastings from Island restaurants like Atria, Chilmark Tavern, the Red Cat Kitchen, and the Black Dog. Auction items include everything from Eisenhauer Gallery art to a meet-and-greet with Mark Wahlberg. Concert headliners are Deborah Cox, Alyson Williams, Clayton Bryant, and the Ashford and Simpson Allstar SugarBar Band. Tickets are $50, or $150 for VIP. Most of the proceeds will benefit Gosnold, but Alan hopes to donate to Martha’s Vineyard Community Services and Bentley University — Jillian’s alma mater.

Jillian’s father role

After the death of his beloved, beautiful angel, he did not sit back and started doing his homework on addiction. He said he had no energy to do something, but what he can do is to learn. He became more interested in harm reduction and learned that through alternative methods, you can lower the risk of death in such cases of addiction. He struggled a lot so that people who are going through the same can at least not lose their lives.
He said that

“Harm reduction means you meet the addict where they are, and get them out of harm’s way,”

She was a beautiful young lady but struggled a lot because of her shortcomings. She wanted to eliminate all those things, but she could not. She graduated from Bentley College in 2013 in the course study of Honors in Marketing. But after her graduation, she returned to her school because, in the back of her mind, she wanted to help people, and then she served as a nurse there. In the meantime, when she was in Bentley, her physician prescribed her Tramadol.

The young lady, along with her struggles, went through many treatments. She went to Gosnold in Falmouth. She was recovering and making a difference, but again, that fall of November took her away from all these struggles.
