Eddie Kurland and Al Ruddy on The Offer are real-life characters based on incidents that took place during the production of The Godfather.

There is barely a film fanatic that hasn’t watched The Godfather yet. The crime film that was released in 1974 is still the highest-rated movie to date. But, very few people know how the movie actually came into the screen.

The recently released TV show The Offer tells it all. The 10-episode miniseries premiered on Paramount+ on April 28, 2022.

Eddie Kurland and Al Ruddy On The Offer

Eddie Kurland and Al Ruddy are the characters in the American miniseries, The Offer. They are based on real-life people and incidents.

Al Ruddy, aka Albert Stotland Ruddy, is an Oscar-winning Canadian filmmaker. His most notable work includes the production of the 1972 blockbuster movie, “The Godfather”.

The whole series is based on Al’s journey in the development of The Godfather. Likewise, his character in The Offer is played by talented American actor Miles Teller.

On the other hand, Eddie Kurland plays a small part in the series. His role is played by budding actor Nicholas Petroccione.

Kurland made an appearance in the first episode of the series. Apparently, he was an eager Hollywood dreamer who pretended to be a carter to meet Ruddy. He then asked Ruddy to let him become a part of the sequel of the movie. In fact, Kurland claimed to have seen the Godfather six times.

Yet, Eddie plays a significant part in Al’s life. He was the person who made Al realize that he had become a myth and inspiration to many people.

Where are Eddie Kurland and Al Ruddy from Godfather Now?

Al Ruddy is still involved in the movie industry now. In fact, he is the executive producer and writer of The Offer.

At the age of 92 years old, Albert is still creating hit cinemas. In 2021, he produced the movie, “Cry Macho”, starring actors like Clint Eastwood and Dwight Yoakam.

Furthermore, Ruddy’s Wikipedia mentions he is happily married to his wife, Wanda McDaniel, for the past 30 years. Similarly, his family members also include two children. His daughter, Alexandra Ruddy, helps him to manage his productions.

However, there isn’t much information about Eddie Kurland now.

In the series, Ruddy mentions, “If anything comes up, we’ll call you” to him. However, there is no character development for him afterward. Seems like, Eddie decided to take a different career path after his encounter with Ruddy.

The Offer Ending Explained

The last episode of The Offer was released on June 16, 2022. It was titled “Brains and Balls”.

In the episode, Ruddy plans to write for his next project. He writes the script for the movie The Longest Yard and pitches it to Robert Evans.

However, Evans doesn’t focus on The Longest Yard and encourages Ruddy to focus on The Godfather instead. After the latter film is released, it turns out to be both commercial and critical success, amassing multiple Oscar nominations.

As the film succeeds, the production team plans for The Godfather II. However, Al expresses his wishes to continue The Longest Yard instead. This time, Evans doesn’t stop him.

There might be a season two for the series. But, the team has not announced any future plans yet.
