Cotten was the CEO of the company from 2013 till the end of 2018. After his death, a huge scam was exposed which was worth $215 Million Canadian Dollars (CAD).

Later, Gerry’s wife-turned-widow, Jennifer Robertson returned $12M CAD from Cotten’s real estate. Also, she stated in her book, Crypto Widow that she was unaware of all the frauds.

Did Gerry Cotten Really Die Or Did He Fake His Death?

Gerry Cotten reportedly died on 9 December 2018 while he was in India.

He was admitted to the hospital on 8 December because he was diagnosed with septic shock, perforation, peritonitis, and intestinal obstruction. However, he died because of Crohn’s disease and cardiac arrest.

As per Wikipedia, Cotten’s death certificate was issued by a local municipality in India following the day of his demise. Also, a NOC was made by the police to return his lifeless body to Nova Scotia.

However, the circumstances surrounding Gerry’s death were suspicious and people are not convinced about his sudden demise.

Numerous threads on Reddit suggest the same as the netizens are not convinced of his immediate death. In fact, they think that his trip to India was preplanned and the death certificates were forged.

The name on his death certificate was misspelled and his dead body is supposedly buried in a closed casket in Canada. But it is doubtful if his body was ever moved to Canada since the casket was closed.

A lot of things suggested by the Reddit users make sense but the real evidence that supports that he is still alive can not be found.

Cotten’s life story and his unfortunate death have baffled people. As a result, Netflix has made a series titled Crypto King where his biopic is pictured with clarity.

But evidently, Cotten passed away because of a cardiac arrest and Jennifer became a widow. Following that, the million-dollar worth scam was exposed to the public.

People speculated that Robertson was already aware of the scams which she was not. She had inherited all of Gerry’s properties (except the key for crypto) which she later returned to the concerned authorities.
