Anson Williams Net Worth $1.8 Million Dollars
Born in Los Angeles, California, even before becoming a star Williams already had fame in his family history, as his uncle, Dr. Heny Heimlich, is the doctor behind the Heimlich maneuvre. In 1972, after years of being a struggling actor and trying to make a name for himself, he was cast as Potsie Weber in the comedy television show “Love, American Style” in the episode “Love and the Happy Days”.
Williams along with Ron Howard and Marion Ross created such an impact in that episode that they spawned a spin-off, their own show entitled “Happy Days”, the show created by Garry Marshall, a sitcom focusing on the lives of four teenagers set in the 50’s. Williams’ character as a gullible, clumsy and nerd teen recsounded well with fans, especially his singing prowess which was evident throughout the series. The show was a huge hit and lasted for 10 seasons. The success of the show ultimately also helped Williams’ career and his net worth.
After his stint as an actor, like his friend and cast member from “Happy Days”, Ron Howard, Williams also dove into the world of directing, with various after-school specials or made-for-televisions movies such as “No Greater Gift”, “The Drug Knot”, and “Lone Star Kid”, feature films focused on teens. Later on, he became a frequent director of several episodes of television shows including “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Xena: Warrior Princess”, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”, “The Legendary Journeys”, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “7th Heaven” to name just a few. Though he has not been that visible in front of the camera since “Happy Days”, his transition from acting to directing has helped Williams stedily maintain his wealth.
Aside from the world of Hollywood, Williams is also an entrepreneur. His ventured with his “Happy Days” co-star Al Molinaro, and together they opened the diners “Big Al’s, though the business did not continue. He later founded the cosmetics company “Starmaker Products”. In 2014, Williams also became an author and wrote “Singing to a Bulldog: From Happy Days to Hollywood Director, and the Unlikely Mentor Who Got Me There”. All of his other ventures have also increased his net worth.
In terms of his personal life, Williams was previously married to actress Lorrie Mahaffey, whom he worked with in “Happy Days”, back in 1978. Unfortunately the marriage ended in 1986 and together they have one child. In 1988 he married his second wife Jackie Gerken, and together they have four children.
